Coral, feminine and free, coral is a gorgeous shade to utilize throughout springtime or when your bedroom needs a face lift. It blends well with a lot of other shades too. Coral is a tricky paint color that many people don't list as a favorite, but I think it's a terrific color that is just misunderstood. Coral is often associated with tropical or coastal interiors, and for that reason many people are hesitant to use it outside of an oceanfront environment. It does describe the warm hues that define actual coral reef. It is also the color you'll see inside many sea shells, but don't confine this color to a beach house. Coral is also the color of the sky at dawn and dusk. I believe it is one of nature's most eye-catching hues, and with a variety of tones that range from reds to rose to orange, it works well in many spaces.
That's why you should incorporate some soft accents throughout the space to help tone down the overall design and add some light to the room. You can't go wrong with crisp white accents against bold tangerine walls -- hang sheer white curtains on the windows and use white floating shelves to display your favorite collectibles, or pair your sofa with an eye-catching patterned chair with plenty of white details. If white looks too harsh, ivory or cream make ideal alternatives. Just because your walls are tangerine doesn't mean other orange shades can't work as accents throughout your living room. A monochromatic design can have a sleek, modern look, so if you prefer contemporary decor, it's an ideal look for your living room. Soft shades such as peach can help tone down the design in place of neutrals like white or ivory, while muted shades like burnt orange or terra cotta can take the place of darker neutrals like gray or chocolate.
